To residents, resident representatives and staff
Kalyna Care has received COVID-19 test results showing that one more resident and another staff member have tested positive.
This is takes the number of residents with coronavirus to seven, with all cohorted in an area of Kalyna Care and being cared for by designated staff, to minimise the chance of any further spread.
There are now seven care staff who have tested positive, along with another two who have been deemed at risk of infection. All nine are quarantined in self-isolation at their own homes.
Kalyna Care continues to work closely with health authorities to maximise protection of residents and staff from coronavirus.
We have appealed to Federal and state health authorities for urgent assistance with additional staff, to maintain our workforce levels and continue to deliver quality care.
Kalyna Care has also been working with an Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) to ensure our Emergency Plan is delivered, to continue protecting our residents and staff.
We have also had several deep cleans during the past few days, to minimise the spread of any infection.
At present, over 30 Kalyna Care staff are in self-isolation including the 15-member catering. The catering team was replaced last week, to protect residents and fellow staff.
Kalyna Care is adhering to rigorous restrictions on visitors, with strict screening of staff and contractors.
Staff are adhering to Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) protocols including masks, face shields, gowns and gloves, and don and doff PPE when attending to every individual resident.
We will keep residents, their families, our dedicated staff and our community aware of any changes to the situation and we are absolutely committed to keeping our residents and staff safe.
