To residents, resident representatives and staff
Kalyna Care is dedicated to compassionate care and strong communications, while focusing on protecting residents, staff and their loved ones.
We wish to inform you that another chef from our original kitchen and catering team has been diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of positive cases in this team to two, following the diagnosis of a chef with the virus on Sunday, 26 July.
The two chefs are members of our 15-strong kitchen team who were stood down immediately and are continuing in self-isolation. Thus far 12 have returned a negative result.
The kitchen was immediately deep cleaned and a new catering team brought in, with strict infection control.
Kalyna Care has been working closely with health authorities and following all instructions to maintain the safety of residents and staff.
All residents at Kalyna Care were tested for COVID-19 on Thursday, 30 July, and all other staff will be tested on Friday, 31 July.
Kalyna Care is adhering to rigorous outbreak protocols which includes no visitors, no contractors, no non-essential staff.
Staff are constantly using full Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including masks, face shields, gowns and gloves, and donning and doffing PPE when attending to every individual resident.
We will keep residents, their families, our dedicated staff and our community aware of any changes to the situation and we are absolutely committed to keeping our residents and staff safe.
While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, we are committed to continuing clear communications between residents, families, friends and our community.
