15 July 2020
Dear Resident Representatives and Staff,
On 8 July 2020, communication was sent informing you of a confirmed diagnosed case of COVID-19 in a construction employee working on the extension wing of Kalyna Care.
Since 8 July, Kalyna Care has worked tirelessly to protect the safety of our residents and staff which included ceasing all construction work immediately, and all construction employees instructed to get tested. Commercial cleaning was undertaken to disinfect all areas of the construction site and any potential risk areas within the facility. Additional cleaning staff are rostered to disinfect the high touch points as an added precaution. We have also implemented stricter entry screening protocols for staff and allied health workers.
You were informed that construction work would only commence when all identified construction employees have been cleared. The construction company has confirmed that their staff have complied with all COVID-19 measures and have returned negative results.
Construction work will re-commence on Thursday 16 July in external areas only. We are working through stricter protocols for internal works before construction workers are permitted into the facility.
Kalyna Care continues to be on maximum alert levels and are acting on advice from the Department of Health and medical authorities.
We wish to thank you for your continued understanding during these challenging times.
